World renowned economist, Daron Acemoglu of MIT spoke via Skype at the annual Armenian Economic Association’s conference at Yerevan State University on October 19. Acemoglu is one of the most cited economists in the world. His groundbreaking book, “Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty,” strives to answer the question why nations develop differently, with some succeeding to secure power and achieve prosperity, while others fail. Taking part in the conference was Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and a number of ministers.
