Business Week Armenia: Russia considering ban on Armenian dairy products
Artsakh – CIVILNET In this week’s edition of CivilNet’s business digest: Russia’s food safety agency, Rosselkhoznadzor, said it is considering a ban on Armenian dairy products.* Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan set a goal of 7% economic growth this year – well above Central Bank forecasts. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien pledged to revive the largely defunct U.S.-Armenia Council on Trade and Investment. *After recording, Rosselkhoznadzor moved to ban dairy imports from Armenia, saying Friday it had formally asked Armenia to suspend mandatory safety certifications on all dairy products destined for Russia starting April 5.

Azerbaijan sets up posts 300 meters into Armenian territory, alarming
Artsakh – CIVILNET Armenia’s National Security Service reported yesterday that Azerbaijani forces had advanced 100-300 meters into Armenia’s sovereign territory near the village of Aravus in Armenia’s southernmost Syunik region. That came after agreements reached last August to change the route of the Lachin corridor, which connects Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. CivilNet’s Syunik team traveled to Aravus to speak to local residents about the situation.

EU works to de-escalate Armenia-Azerbaijan tensions
Artsakh – CIVILNET Andrea Wiktorin, the head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, sat down with CivilNet’s Emilio Cricchio to discuss the EU’s recently deployed civilian mission to the Armenian side of the border with Azerbaijan. Armenia signs on to US democracy statement – with Ukraine
Artsakh – CIVILNET By Mark Dovich Armenia joined India and Mexico Wednesday to sign on to a U.S. pro-democracy declaration while making reservations over a paragraph condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine. In a press release, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s office said it had refused to endorse a paragraph “demand(ing) that Russia immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw” from Ukraine because it “does not reflect all conflicts and crises in (a) comprehensive and inclusive manner and fails to address the fact of Azerbaijan’s acts of aggression” against Armenia. EU mission a success if Azerbaijan doesn’t attack Armenia this

If this doesn’t happen, our mission is already a success,” Markus Ritter, the head of the EU civilian mission on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, told Deutsche Welle Tuesday. The Russian-led CSTO security bloc is ready to implement the plans to deploy its own mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told RTVI Wednesday. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed U.S. President Joe Biden’s second annual Summit for Democracy Wednesday, thanking Washington for helping halt Azerbaijan’s attack on Armenia last September.
