Georgia’s Prime Minister in Armenia

Georgia’s newly elected Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze arrived in Yerevan on an official visit. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Armen Sarkissian met with Bakhtadze.

During his meeting with Bakhtadze, Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian underlined that the friendship between the two Caucasian countries has deep historical roots.

“Of course, this serious historical wealth creates prerequisites for the establishment and implementation of new partnerships. At present our political relations are at a high level, but there is great potential, especially in the economic sector. I am confident that your visit will be a new impetus for bringing our bilateral relations to a higher level,” said President Sarkissian while addressing Prime Minister Bakhtadze.

Bakhtadze added that a joint sitting of the intergovernmental committees will be held in the near future, during which areas for economic development will be worked out between the two countries.

During the visit, the two sides underscored the wide range of cooperation between the two countries and the clear aspiration on both sides to expand bilateral relations. Particularly, the importance of implementing joint programs in science, education, information technology, transport and other sectors of the economy were highlighted.

Bakhtadze, 36, has previously served as Georgia’s Minister of Finance and became prime minister in June 2018.
