Three members of The HALO Trust staff have been killed and two injured by an accidental detonation of an anti-tank landmine in the Nor Ghazanchi area of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The HALO Trust, a British humanitarian organization that removes debris left behind by war, in particular land mines, confirmed that three men were killed in an explosion of a mine in the Ghazanchi District of the Martakert Region of Nagorno Karabakh on March 29. Two others were injured. They were local workers of the non-profit organization.
The employees were in a car conducting survey duties when the accident occured.
The wounded staff have been taken to the hospital. The HALO Trust contacted the families of those killed.
“There will be no further statement until the families have been informed,” said the organization in a statement.
The British HALO Trust has been clearing landmines and cluster munitions in Karabakh since 2000. They have already cleared 90% of the minefields in the territory.
