Four Armenian soldiers killed at Line of Contact.
Four young soldiers of the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army were killed today near the northeastern section of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact. According to a statement by the NKR Defense Ministry, Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire on Armenian frontline positions using Turkish-manufactured rocket propelled howitzers.
This latest incident comes on the heels of intense shelling aimed at peaceful civilians living in border villages along the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border on September 24, which resulted in three civilian casualties.
The deceased are Norayr Khachatryan (b. 1995), Robert Mkrtchyan (b.1995), Harut Hakobyan (b. 1997) and Karen Shahinyan (b. 1997). According to the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Ministry the soldiers died from shrapnel wounds. There are reportedly a number of wounded soldiers.
An investigation has been launched according to the NKR Defense Ministry statement.
