Master Classes at Golden Apricot International Film Festival

A series of master classes by renowned cinematographers and directors will be held during the 11th Golden Apricot International Film Festival (GAIFF), which is set to take place in Yerevan between July 13 and 20.

As reported by the festival press service, on July 14 acclaimed Austrian cinematographer Christian Berger will hold a master class on the art of cinematography.

On July 15, famous Chinese director Jia Zhangke will hold a class on the art of directing.

On July 17, former New York Film Festival director and famous film critic Richard Peña will hold a master class entitled “African Origins of American Independent Film.”

On July 18, writer, novelist, screenwriter, and literary translator Petros Márkaris of Greece will hold a class revealing the secrets of the art of screenwriting, and on July 19, famous French actress Anna Mouglalis will hold a master class on the art of acting.

The master classes are open to everyone and will be held at the Nairi Cinema starting at 3:00 p.m.

Golden Apricot is an annual International Film Festival held in Yerevan since 2004. This year’s festival, the 11th, which is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of legendary Armenian filmmaker Sergei Parajanov, will premiere films by Cannes winning directors like Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne. “Golden Apricot” is unique for its Armenian Panorama program, where six feature films, six shorts and five documentaries will compete this year.
