Armenia Hands Over Lands to Russian Border Guards in Syunik

Syunik

The Armenian government announced that it will hand over territories in Kapan, Meghri and Tegh communities of Syunik to the border guards of the Russian Federal Security Service. The decision was made during a government session on Thursday.

The communities had previously given these areas to the government to hand over to Russian forces who they expect will strengthen Armenia’s south-eastern borders.

The areas will be given to Russian forces for gratuitous use, and there is no fixed timeframe.

“Since the November 9, 2020, trilateral announcement, there is a need to strengthen Armenia’s southeastern borders, for which purpose appropriate land plots have been allocated,” said a government statement.
