Foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan to meet in Washington next
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet in Washington next week for another round of peace talks. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Armenia “has no right” to negotiate on the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armen Grigoryan, the head of Armenia’s Security Council, said Yerevan may sign a peace deal with Baku by the end of the year. A Yerevan court ordered that Gayane Hakobyan, the woman accused of trying to kidnap Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s son, be placed under house arrest.

Armenia’s largest gold mine closed over shelling from Azerbaijan
By Mark Dovich The Russian company that owns Sotk, Armenia’s largest gold mine, said last week it had indefinitely suspended operations at the site, citing shelling from Azerbaijan. “Further work at the Sotk open pit has become impossible due to circumstances beyond the company’s control,” GPM Gold was quoted as saying last Tuesday by Sputnik Armenia. The company confirmed that more than 700 people who work at the mine had been placed on unpaid leave. Leading Armenian mobile network operator takes stake in Georgia: Business
Team Telecom, one of Armenia’s leading mobile network operators, struck a deal to take a 30% stake in the Georgian telecommunications company SkyTel. The owner of Sotk, Armenia’s largest gold mine, indefinitely suspended operations due to cross-border fire from Azerbaijan. Armenia will appoint trade representatives to China, Germany, and the United States, more than doubling the country’s number of commercial envoys overseas. Armenia said nearly half of last year’s record economic growth could be attributed solely to “Russia-related factors.”
