STARMUS VI Festival officially opened on September 5th.

Making an emphasis on “STARMUS” festival sustainability component, and highlighting the importance of waste management, “The Coca-Cola” company joined the festival with its “World Without Waste” program.

“Environmental Sustainability is one of the biggest challenges that humanity faces nowadays, and we are trying to engage and educate people in this direction. This festival is a great opportunity to remind once again about the negative impacts of waste, and raise awareness among different layers of the society. Let’s keep our planet clean by collecting, sorting, and recycling the waste,” said Elina Margaryan, Coca-Cola HBC Public Affairs and Sustainability Director in Armenia.

Joel Parker, a professor at Colorado University and director of the “Boulder” Office of Southwest Research Institute, also talked about sustainable development and environmental problems. He mentioned that he was aware of Coca-Cola’s “World Without Waste” program. This initiative will help the Company to recycle primary packaging by 100 % by 2025.

Chris Rapley, a Professor of Climate Science at University College London, a Fellow of St. Edmund’s College Cambridge, and a Distinguished Visiting Scolar at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, mentioned that sustainable development is one of the biggest problems for humanity, and “The Coca-Cola” company has a huge influence in solving this issue.

Through the “World Without Waste” program, “The Coca-Cola” company placed sorting bins for plastic and paper during the whole duration of Festival. The collected waste will be sent for recycling and the funds collected from recycling will be used to organize the “Treasure Hunt” game for schoolchildren. The game has an educational purpose, and participants will learn about environmental issues and solutions.
