EU to decide on sending civilian mission to Armenia Azerbaijan border

The European Union’s member states will decide today on sending a civilian mission to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, according to Toivo Klaar, the EU’s special representative to the South Caucasus.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken “expressed appreciation for the positive steps Armenia and Azerbaijan are taking towards reaching a sustainable peace agreement, including direct talks” in separate phone calls with the two countries’ leaders.

Azerbaijani units opened fire in the direction of Armenian combat positions in the eastern section of the border, according to the Armenian Defense Ministry. The Armenian side reported no losses.
