Cheryl Thomas: ‘Women’s rights are both facing steps backward and forward’

Cheryl Thomas is the Founding Director of Global Rights for Women. Since 1993, Cheryl has worked with partners around the world to promote women’s rights and achieve effective systemic and legal reform to end violence against women and girls.

Cheryl stopped by CivilNet’s studio to talk about recent steps forward – and backward – for women’s rights and the fight to end violence against women. What are governments’ responsibilities to end inequalities, and what has been the state of women’s rights since the birth of the feminist movement?
