‘ICC membership has a deterrence role,’ says former court chief

In the aftermath of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, Armenian legal teams have been working to find new ways to hold Azerbaijan accountable for abuse and war crimes committed against Armenian servicemen and civilians. The Center for Truth and Justice is one such organization. Its team of lawyers have overseen the collection of testimonial evidence and created a database that can now be accessed by interested legal teams. CivilNet caught up with the CFTJ team, who just wrapped up their second annual conference at the American University of Armenia. This year’s keynote speaker was Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji, the former head of the International Criminal Court. Judge Eboe-Osuji explains to us what exactly becoming a full member of the ICC would mean for Armenia.
