Azerbaijan’s new checkpoint in the Lachin corridor near the border with Armenia has left four Armenian villages in Nagorno-Karabakh – Lisagor, Yeghtsahogh, Mets Shen and Hin Shen – in a double blockade. When self-styled Azerbaijani environmental activists set up a roadblock on a different section of the corridor last December, the residents of those four villages were cut off from the rest of Nagorno-Karabakh, but were able to travel to Armenia. But since the checkpoint was set up late last month, the four villages have been left isolated from Armenia as well.
