Armenia takes part in Western-backed Ukraine peace talks

  • Armenia’s opposition attempted to call a vote to open an impeachment hearing into Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, but failed to meet quorum after members of the ruling Civil Contract party boycotted the session. Without quorum, no votes can be held.
  • Former Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan was freed from house arrest, but remains charged in a corruption case involving Synergy, one of Armenia’s largest IT firms.
  • A delegation of U.S. State Department officials and mayors arrived in Armenia to launch a first-of-its-kind Local Democracy Forum and set up new sister city connections.
  • Armenia took part in Western-backed peace talks on Ukraine, but declined to sign on to a final communique. Russia was not invited to the summit in Switzerland.
