Russian border guards leave Armenia’s international airport 

  • Russian border guards withdrew from Yerevan’s Zvartnots airport, where they had been stationed since just after Armenia’s independence.
  • Turkey’s foreign minister reaffirmed that his country’s border with Armenia will not be reopened until a normalization deal with Azerbaijan is reached.
  • The United States suspended more than $95 million in aid to Georgia following the passage of a Russia-inspired foreign agent law, at a time when the West is forging deeper ties with Armenia.
  • The Armenian government set up a company to plan the construction of a new nuclear plant to replace the aging Metsamor facility.
