No official complaints from Russia over brandy quality, Armenia says: THIS WEEK IN BUSINESS

  • Armenia said it has not received any official complaints from Russia about the quality of the country’s multimillion-dollar brandy exports, after Moscow-based consumer rights and lobbying groups claimed the spirits do not meet international safety standards.
  • Washington told CivilNet it is studying a request by Yerevan to reach a Section 123 Agreement, which would pave the way for the United States to design and build a new nuclear power plant in Armenia to replace the country’s aging facility at Metsamor. Read more
  • Armenia revised down its GDP growth figure for last year to 8.3% from 8.7%, shaving off some $134 million in value from its original estimate. Armenia also revised down its GDP growth figure for the first quarter of this year to 6.6% from 9.2%. That means Armenia’s economy is not on track to meet the government’s target of 7% growth for this year.
