Armenia rejects Aliyev’s ‘Western Azerbaijan’ rhetoric

  • Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan outlined Armenia’s position on territorial definitions, refugee rights, and a 12-point roadmap for regional peace, while firmly rejecting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s “Western Azerbaijan” narrative as a threat to Armenia’s territorial integrity.
  • In a press conference, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also touched upon Azerbaijan’s narrative of “Western Azerbaijan” that he described as a direct territorial demand on Armenia, also calling the concept of Zangezur Corridor unacceptable.
  • Armenia’s government approved and submitted to parliament a bill initiating the process of accession to the European Union.
