Lori Marz in northern Armenia was the scene of two separate gastronomic events on September 7. The first was the annual khorovats (barbecue) competition in Akhtala, which attracted 22 entrants from Russia and Georgia, as well as Armenia. The winner was Geogre Odo, who moved to Armenia from Nigeria 14 years ago. Sedrak Mamulyan, one of the organizers, estimated the number of visitors at 5,000- 6,000.
