Commemorating Genocide in the Heart of Istanbul

On April 24, hundreds of people held a silent vigil to honor the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in Istanbul. The memorial took place on Istiklal Avenue, a famous pedestrian street in the heart of Turkey’s capital. Photos of murdered Armenian intellectuals were held by participants as solemn Armenian music played in the background. This is the fifth time that such a memorial has been taking place in Turkey.
