CIVILNET is on the road along Artsakh's (Karabakh's) new borders, visiting residents in towns and villages who have suddenly found themselves on the border with Azerbaijan. One of those areas is the Amaras Monastery and Sos Village in Karabakh’s east. During the recent war, intense battles took place near the monastery, but the Azerbaijani forces were unable to enter the area. Since its construction in the 4th century, Amaras has continuously been at the center of military conflicts. It has been destroyed and reconstructed a few times. However, during both the 1992 and the 2020 wars, it was protected and has been able to remain Armenian.
