Human Rights Fest in Armenia – A First

The ‘Article 3 Human Rights Fest’ was hosted in Armenia as a partnership between the For Equal Rights NGO, the European Union, and the United Nations to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the signing and the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN. Panels were moderated by experts and included discussions on domestic violence, rights of individuals while being detained by police, at school, work, in the judicial process and others.

The panels were held at Universities in Yerevan and outside of the city over eight days and were open to the public. The excitement of the Velvet Revolution spilled over to the event and was used as an example of what happens when people demand rights for the individual.
