Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Wiretapped, Phone Call Leaked

A wiretapped conversation between Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Chief of the National Security Service (NSS) Artur Vanetsyan and the Head of the Special Investigative Service (SIS),Sasun Khachatryan, has been shared on YouTube.

The conversation was related to the arrests, in July, of former President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan and former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Yuri Khachaturov.

The first part of the leaked phone conversation was published in September. During the first call, the two security officials discussed the March 1 case, Robert Kocharyan’s detention, the possible dangers of arresting CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov.

Criminal proceedings were instituted.

In the second part of the recording, Pashinyan, the Chief of the NSS Vanetsyan and the Head of the SIS Khachatryan, talk about the consequences of the arrest of the CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov.

Chief of NSS Artur Vanetsyan says that the Security Council of the Russian Federation urges not to arrest CSTO Secretary General Khachaturov since it will be a hard blow for the reputation of the organization.

The leaked phone call on Youtube was released on December 4. Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page that he will go live to comment the second part of the recording.
