Towards a Mine Free Karabakh

Organizations from Armenia and around the world were invited to showcase their work at Innovate Armenia, a festival of ideas and action that took place at the University of Southern California on May 18.

The HALO Trust, a non-profit organization that works to remove landmines leftover from war, presented on its work in Karabakh, at the festival. Amasia Zargarian, Grants and Development Manager at the HALO Trust, talked about the challenges – and triumphs – of removing mines from the region.

Innovate Armenia is organized by the USC Institute of Armenian Studies. The program featured fifty participants, from six countries, and nearly 4,000 attendees. This is the fourth time in five years that this unique event has been staged by the Institute.
