Experts from Istanbul Bilgi University’s Center for Migration Research were in Yerevan to talk about the current plight of 15,000 to 20,000 Armenian migrants living in Turkey. Most of these migrants left Armenia to find work abroad in order to support family members who stayed behind.
Experts underlined the lack of accessibility to basic rights for thousands of those migrants, particularly for children.
Georgia’s parliament approved the first reading of a bill on “foreign agents” this week, sparking protests in the capital Tbilisi. The proposed law would require media outlets and non-profit organizations that receive over 20% of their funding from abroad to register as entities influenced by foreign sources.
