Armenia’s Sanitek Waste Management Company Fined Again

Sanitek, a waste management company operating in Armenia, was fined roughly $27,000 for multiple cases of improper implementation of services as outlined by contract. The announcement was made public on the Yerevan Municipality website.

In August 2018, the Yerevan Municipality staff investigated the contract signed between Yerevan City Hall and Sanitek. During the investigation, multiple cases of improper implementation of the services were found, which do not abide by the contract signed between Sanitek and the Yerevan Municipality in August 2018. Compliance statements were sent to Sanitek and the company was given a timeframe to eliminate the shortcomings.

However, not all of issues were eliminated within the deadline established by the agreement and “Failure of the Services” notice was issued and a fine was levied.

Sanitek, in turn, is challenging the issued notices, stating that the failures are due to circumstances related to condition of landfills.

Recognizing the importance of the services provided by Sanitek, the Yerevan Municipality is undertaking measures to support the company to resume its usual services.

Sanitek has been operating in Amenia since December of 2014. The company is part of Beirut-based Sanitek International Group.
