Scholars, policymakers and officials from Armenia’s government participated in Innovate Armenia – a festival of ideas and action that took place at the University of Southern California on May 18.
During the program, Heghnar Zeitlian Watenpaugh, Professor of Art History at the University of California, Davis, talked about the Zeytun Gospels and the significance of preserving manuscripts. Her new book, THE MISSING PAGES: THE MODERN LIFE OF A MEDIEVAL MANUSCRIPT, tells the story of an ancient illuminated manuscript that is at once art, a sacred object, and also a piece of cultural heritage.
Innovate Armenia is organized by the USC Institute of Armenian Studies. The program featured fifty participants, from six countries, and nearly 4,000 attendees. This is the fourth time in five years that this unique event has been staged by the Institute.
