Pashinyan to Present at Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, will participate in the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on April 11.

PACE is the parliamentary arm of the Council of Europe in which international organisations of 47 nations are dedicated to upholding human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

During the session, which will be held in Strasburg, Pashinyan will have meetings with Jagland Thorbjørn, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Liliane Maury-Pasquier, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Gianni Buquicchio, Chairman of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the Council of Europe Secretary General and the PACE President will officially open a photo exhibition entitled “Armenia’s Velvet Revolution” at the European Council’s headquarter.

On March 27, Liliane Maury-Pasquier, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, spoke during the National Assembly session. During her speech, she said that the democratic impulse that Armenia is living now is an excellent opportunity to push forward important reforms such as the operation of justice, penal system, democratic control of police force and important social reforms, promotion of equality between women and men, fight against discrimination and children’s rights.
