1988-ի Ղարաբաղյան շարժումն սկսվեց Արցախում՝ Հադրութ, Մարտունի, Ասկերան և Ստեփանակերտ։ Ֆոտոշարքում ներկայացված են առաջին ցույցերը։ Լուսանկարների հեղինակը Վալերի Պետրոսյանն է, ով այդ օրերին Ասկերանում լույս տեսնող «Կարմիր դրոշ» շրջանային թերթի լուսանկարիչն էր: Պետրոսյանը Ստեփանակերտի փետրվարի 13-ի հանրահավաքը լուսանկարած քիչ, միգուցե՝ միակ լուսանկարիչն է։
The 1988 Karabakh movement began in the towns of Hadrut, Martuni, Askeran and Stepanakert. These photos show the first demonstrations. The author of the photos is Valeriy Petrosyan, who at the time was the photographer of the Askeran town newspaper Karmir Drosh ( Red Flag). Petrosyan is one of the few, perhaps the only, photographer who has photographed the February 13 rally in Stepanakert.
