In a briefing with reporters on January 30, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded to the question of whether the “territories for peace” concept was being discussed in regards to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“We can not even discuss the territories for peace resolution,” Pashinyan said.
Critics are accusing Pashinyan of returning to the policy of Levon Ter-Petrossian on the Karabakh issue. Ter-Petrossian was often accused of being too free-wheeling with Karabakh territories, following the notion that giving back territories would be the first step in a process that would bring security and a formal status to Karabakh.
“Our government is pursuing a policy on Karabakh that no other government has in the past,” Pashinyan said. “And in parallel, to find common ground with any of the previous political trends, I have to say at once that it is a perfect delusion.”
