NKR Defense Ministry: Seven Azerbaijani Soldiers Killed

soldier111In the early morning hours of March 6, Armenian positions along the northern portion of the frontline near Shahumyan came under heavy attack by the Azerbaijani army. According to the press office of the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Ministry, the Azerbaijani military violated the ceasefire regime approximately 80 times, firing a total of 4500 rounds. Different caliber weapons were utilized, including 60 – 80 mm mortars and RPGs. Armenian army units retaliated to quell the attack resulting in the death of three Azerbaijani soldiers.

At about the same time period on March 6, military operations were conducted by the Karabakh Defense Army on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact near Martakert. The pitched battle resulted in the death of another four Azerbaijani servicemen.

According to official sources, the Armenian side didn’t suffer any casualties.

Frontline units of the Karabakh Defense Army continue to closely monitor the entire length of the Contact Line.

On February 28, an Azerbaijani commando raid along the northeastern portion of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Contact Line resulted in the death of two Armenian soldiers of the Karabakh Defense Army, Artak Aghekyan and Hayk Baroyan.

Since the beginning of January, 2015, the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border and the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact have remained tense. A number of bloody clashes have taken place resulting in casualties for both sides.

On February 6, the spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan had announced that there was a slow brewing war along Armenia’s borders.
