Islamized Armenians: Living Victims of the Genocide

The mission of Project Rebirth is to create an Armenian presence on historic Armenians lands in Turkey by engaging with Islamized Armenians. For the second time, a group of Islamized Armenians (whose grandparents and great-grandparents had been forced to convert to Islam during the Armenian Genocide of 1915) came to the Republic of Armenia to reclaim their roots and heritage. Raffi Bedrosyan, the founder of Project Rebirth speaks to CivilNet’s Maria Titizian about their experience and the controversy over their denied request to be baptized by the Armenian Apostolic Church. The trip was organized and sponsored by Raffi Bedrosyan, with additional contributions from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, AGBU Asbeds and a few individuals.
