Preparations for Sargsyan-Aliyev Paris Meeting Discussed in New York

OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov, James Warlick, and Pierre Antoine met with Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandyan and Elmar Mammadyarov in New York to prepare for the summit between Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in Paris at the end of October, reports the OSCE Newsroom.

Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, who was also present at the meeting, briefly discussed the Karabakh Conflict, which will be included in the agenda in the upcoming meeting.

At the summit in Paris, the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan plan to continue their dialogue on the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict and its prospects for peace. The Co-Chairs expressed their hope for the Presidents to hold productive discussions and told the two foreign ministers that they also intend to visit the regions.

The OSCE co-chairs also met with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office (CiO) Didier Burkhalter to provide him with a summary of the Presidents’ recent meetings in Sochi and Wales, and to inform him of the preparations for the Paris summit.

The scheduled Sargsyan-Aliyev October meeting came into fruition through a discussion between Sargsyan and François Hollande on September 4 in Newport, Wales during the NATO summit. The French president confirmed the October meeting in his congratulatory letter to Armenia in celebration of its 23rd anniversary of independence.
