A leaked recording of a telephone conversation between Armenia’s National Security Service Director Arthur Vanetsyan and the Head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan went viral today.
In the conversation, the security officials discuss the March 1 case, Robert Kocharyan’s detention, the possible dangers of arresting CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, the expected note from the attorney Vahe Grigoryan, former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan and others.
Shortly after, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan went Live from his Facebook page and condemned the wiretapping.
Later in the day, Vanetsyan and Khachatryan gave a press conference in which they confirmed the authenticity of the recording and stated that if the public demands, they are ready to resign.

Pashinyan said that although judges have been calling him to find out what to do in various criminal cases, he has stated that he refuses to give orders to the judiciary.
“We will not give in to any blackmail, the March 1 case must be disclosed, what has been robbed must be returned,” the prime minister said. “All this is because I do not compromise with the corrupt and the robbers,” Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that they can not stop him.”
Pashinyan announced that a new criminal cases will be launched to investigate the secret recording of the conversation.
“Whether you secretly record it or secretly film it, the people will firmly stand by the government’s side,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
