Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are set to meet with European Union Council President Charles Michel on April 6 amid renewed escalations in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Last week, Azerbaijani forces violated the fragile ceasefire in Karabakh and crossed the line of contact in the Askeran region.

Moscow on Saturday accused Azerbaijan of violating the ceasefire agreement by entering the Russian peacekeeping mission’s zone in Karabakh, the first time Russia publicly assigned the blame for violating the 2020 deal.

Russian peacekeepers stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh are in negotiations to stop Azerbaijani forces from advancing any further, and to return them to their initial positions.

A previous EU-mediated meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev took place on December 14, 2021 in Brussels.
