In May 2014, the number of passengers to and from Zvartnots International Airport increased by 36.9%, compared to May of last year.
According to an official statement, in May 2014, 171,431 passengers flew to Zvartnots Airport, compared to 125,263 passengers who used the airport in May 2013.
The number of flights for May 2014 has increased by 49.4% (1,858 flights compared to last year’s 1,244 flights in May).
In May 2013, 27 different airlines flew to Zvartnots Airport. This year saw an increase to 33 airlines flying to Zvartnots in May. The airport stated that most of the airlines have increased their flight frequency to all destinations, which has led to a decrease in airline ticket prices.
The increase in flights and passengers to Zvartnots International Airport is due to the Armenian Government’s open sky policy, which was adopted in October 2013.
