Ohanyan to Kasprzyk: De-escalate Tensions on Line of Contact

On June 6, Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan met with Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk.

Armenia’s Minister of Defense invited Ambassador Kasprzyk to the Ministry after two Armenian contract servicemen, Andranik Yeghoyan, 26 and Boris Gasparyan, 22, were killed from Azerbaijani sniper fire on the southwestern portion of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border on June 5.

According to a statement published by the Defense Ministry, Minister Ohanyan urged the Ambassador to use his authority and take steps to settle tensions on the Line of Contact as the current tension could have dire consequences for the Azerbaijani side. “Ambassador Kasprzyk expressed his concern and promised to take steps to resolve the current situation on the Line of Contact,” notes the statement.
