Yerevan Brandy Company Launches Recreated “Armenia” Brandy

brandy oneChocolate, cinnamon, citrus, honey, and vanilla: the different nuances and combinations of smells and notes that characterize Armenia’s Yerevan Brandy Factory, which recently recreated its widely popular Soviet era “Armenia” brandy. The brandy contains 45% alcohol by volume and is aged 10 years.

The Yerevan Brandy Factory held its “Armenia” brandy presentation and tasting ceremony on April 14.

“Armenia” was first created in 1940 by the famous Armenian master-blender Margar Sedrakyan, who dedicated more than 40 years of his life (1932-1973) to brandy making and is a holder of the prestigious French Chevalier du Degustation title. Today, after 75 years, “Armenia” has made a comeback while retaining its original recipe.

“The recreated brandy remains loyal to Margar Sedrakyan’s original blend, with certain changes made to the bottle design,” said Christina Ishkhanyan, the “Ararat” brand ambassador. “The ‘Armenia’ brandy bottle label and external packaging differ from other classical ARARAT bottles. It is intended to copy “Armenia’s” legendary historic design,” she added.

“Armenia” is presented in the ARARAT exclusive collection, and is currently only available in the domestic market. Ishkhanyan noted that “Armenia” brandy will eventually be exported.
