Made in Artsakh: Karabakh turns to local production amid blockade

Since the beginning of Azerbaijan’s blockade, which began over six months ago, many stores and local businesses in Nagorno-Karabakh have closed due to lack of supplies and the blockade’s economic impact. Today, stores that remain open sell mainly locally-produced goods such as pasta, dairy products and canned goods. Although it is difficult for local factories to operate amid the blockade, which has come with shortages in electricity and heating gas, some have turned to local production to mitigate the critical food shortages in the region.
