Walking the Velvet Revolution

This short film chronicles the participation of four young optimistic young people in the journey that became Armenia’s Velvet Revolution.

Thousands of young citizens and students took part in the movement – the largest one since Armenia’s independence movement from the Soviet Union. It also transformed the lives many, inluding those who were at the frontlines of the movement. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan is currently a member of Armenia’s new parliament. Astghik Melkonyan was a parliamentary candidate. Vazgen Galstyan is an activists fighting against Amulsar’s mine exploitation. Ani Hakobjanyan does not participate in politics but works in the food service industry.

This documentary was filmed from September to December of 2018, with support from OPEN Media Hub and the European Union. The film uses footage from Azatutyun.am, Para.tv, and Lragir.am.
