Demonstrators and police clash amid protests in Yerevan

Armenia is on the eve of the election of Armenia’s next Prime Minister. Thousands of people have gathered throughout the center of Yerevan to protest against former President Serzh Sargsyan, who is seeking the post of the country’s next Prime Minister.

Early in the morning, protesters blocked major streets, bridges and the subway. Demonstrators moved towards the National Assembly but they were stopped by the police barriers. The police used special measures against protestors. Forty six people, including Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the opposition have been wounded and taken to hospital.
