Tigranashen is one of the three former Soviet Azerbaijani enclaves. It is located in Armenia’s Ararat region. The highway from Yerevan to Nagorno-Karabakh and Iran passes through Tigranashen. CivilNet visited the village to understand how the current situation is perceived by its residents, most of whom have settled here from Baku and other parts of Azerbaijan.

European court requests information from Azerbaijan on detained Armenian soldiers
The European Court of Human Rights requested that Azerbaijan provide information on the condition of two Armenian soldiers apparently abducted late last week. Armenia called on the United States to “adequately respond” to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s remarks over the weekend threatening renewed military action.

Armenia has appealed to the European Court of Human Rights over Azerbaijan’s apparent abduction last week of two Armenian soldiers from Armenian territory. Russia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed plans to open a consulate in Armenia’s southernmost Syunik region, days after CivilNet first broke the news. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan rejected Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s insistence over the weekend that the two countries’ borders be set on Baku’s terms.
