Tourism boom sees 1.4 million visitors to Armenia so far this year

  • Armenia has welcomed 1.4 million tourists so far this year in a post-pandemic, post-war boom, according to the country’s Tourism Committee.
  • The Armenian government will form a special working group to study steps needed to establish an “academic city” outside of Yerevan.
  • Starting this month, people who have received Armenian citizenship and are applying for their first Armenian passport will have to do so online, the police said.
  • U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he welcomes “courageous steps” by Armenia and Azerbaijan after meeting the two countries’ foreign ministers in Washington.
